Robotic Surgery- Can I afford it?

Putting smile back on face of a patient is the greatest achievement for any doctor. A diagnosis of cancer comes with lot of challenges like physical trauma, mental stress and financial burden.

Mrs. Sandhyarani Bera was diagnosed with a kidney cancer and after that the whole family was in a great distress. Watching the patient smiling on the day after surgery and getting discharged from hospital after 48 hours was a great relief for the whole team and all the family members.

With the use of advanced technology in surgery, kidney cancer can be cured by removing the affected kidney by help of robotic assisted surgery.

In the case of Mrs. Bera, her left kidney was affected by a cancer, we took the decision to remove her left kidney to save her life. With robotic surgery, it is possible to remove the tumor with precision with small incision, less blood loss, quick recovery, and shorter hospital stay. All this happening at the peak of the COVID pandemic, she became COVID positive and lungs were affected. After the report came negative, keeping in mind the post COVID complications, we decided to operate on her. The surgery went smoothly and recovery was also smooth. We are happy to see the smiles back on the faces of all the family members.

Robotic surgery has changed the perception about surgery. Now surgery is minimally invasive, has minimal pain and blood loss, patient is discharged within few days and we are able to put smiles back on faces. Even people from remote places and villages are aware about the robotic surgery and are getting benefitted. We, at MEDICA Health have tried to make it affordable for the common people.
