In Kidney Cancer : Kidneys can be saved by Kidney Preserving Surgery

Sharing story of a Kidney Cancer patient in which we could preserve his kidney using Robotic Surgery

Mr. Sudhir Kumar Mondal, a 61 years gentleman, a Homeopathic doctor from North 24 Parganas was referred to us while he was being treated for Lung Cancer.

Mr. Mondal had other health issues like high blood pressure, COPD and a borderline kidney function besides a lung cancer survivor.

After the completion of the radiation therapy for lung cancer, when Mr. Mondal revisit for check-up, it was found that he has a Kidney tumor also. Thankfully kidney tumor was involving nearly one half of the kidney.

Dr. Abhay gave him the faith that he will be completely fine through Robotic Partial Nephrectomy where his kidney can be preserved and only cancerous part can be removed through robotic surgery.

The operation was done on 19th March, 2021 and he was discharged from the hospital within next 4 days. Now he is completely fine.

Message from this story for all is

  • In Kidney Cancer, it’s not necessary to remove complete kidney all the time. Kidneys can be preserved by doing a partial nephrectomy.
  • In this case, it has been possible to win both lung cancer and kidney cancer by early detection of cancers.
  • Robot is the advanced technology from which tumors can be removed perfectly with minimal incision, minimal scar, minimal blood loss and pain and kidneys can be preserved.
  • Finally, cancers can be cured, if detected early, and organs can be preserved.
