Driving to Home direct from hospital. Just after a Robotic Surgery

A young man, Mr. Jagabandhu Singha from Medinipur Town came to my OPD few months back with the history of frequent urination. On evaluation it was found that he was having a rare & big tumor around 7cm in his left adrenal gland. Adrenal gland is a small gland, located just above the kidney in the abdomen. Normally its function is to maintain blood pressure in the body and to secrete some other hormones to regulate the normal body functions. Sometimes tumors of adrenal gland are functional tumors, and may cause some endocrine problems like high blood pressure. Sometimes it is nonfunctional that means it is just bigger in the size but they don’t secrete hormones and may not cause any systemic problems. Sometimes this tumor can be cancerous.

Previously we were doing an open surgery to remove the adrenal tumors which required a big incision or cut in the abdomen. Now we are doing this surgery by Robotic or laparoscopic technique. Robotic surgery Makes the life of surgeon is very easy and recovery is smooth and patient has a shorter hospital stay. Understanding all the facts, Mr. Jagabandhu agreed for the robotic adrenalin gland surgery. The surgery went smooth. On the 2nd day he was discharged from the hospital and returned his sweet home by driving his own car. On biopsy it was found adrenal gland tumor was an benign tumor. Now he is under follow up checkups and leading his normal life.
